Hugh,

Here on the Wirral the programme was on BBC1 at 2030. Len Goodman was a welder a long time after the TITANIC sank. You should be able to watch the programme on BBC iPlayer. I enjoyed it.

Hugh Excuse my sheer ignorance on things engineering, but I always had thought the basic hull construction had been riveted, especially pre WW1 and for a considerable time thereafter. Presumably the technique could have been used for superstructure though, so, if correct, the statement is nearer true than not. I'm awaiting slapping of wrists from the ER brothers! Ron

Tonight at 8.00 on BBC1 (I've missed it), we are/were promised a programme featuring Len Goodman, one of judges on the Strictly Come Dancing TV show, talking about Titanic. The preview comments from the Herald TV person tell us Goodman used to work for "the welding company who helped to build the ship". I didn't know that.

Hugh.
