do you know how ross hill managed to achieve the almost impossible?
I wonder if cruise companies have,or are pursuing, not only fail safe systems but systems that ensure total black outs are impossible.
could it be that the costs to cruise lines when power fails is a small part of their overall costs and therefore hardly worth bothering about?
particularly in view of the maximum pittance in compensation [not to mention the logistic difficulty in suing] that, by law. cruise lines offer inconvenienced passengers.

Never came across a power limit system in the merchant ships but in the oil field once SCR systems came on line there where various attempts by different manufactures to protect the equipment from the idiots that operate it but the only one that managed it was Ross Hill (Australian of course) and his system worked brilliantly in preventing the drilling system from overloading the system even when only one genny was on line
