Never came across a power limit system in the merchant ships but in the
oil field once SCR systems came on line there where various attempts by
different manufactures to protect the equipment from the idiots that
operate it but the only one that managed it was Ross Hill (Australian of
course) and his system worked brilliantly in preventing the drilling
system from overloading the system even when only one genny was on line
