Bill,
There's imports and imports, and exports and exports - I think we should
draw the line at importing raw and cooked frozen chicken, meat and fish from
1000s of miles away via god alone knows what chain of mishaps and faulty
freezers. I once asked the messroom steward to inquire of the butler
regarding how we came to have "fresh fish" on the menu, and hadn't been near
a port for some time, purely out of curiousity. He brought the following
answer back - "We have herring fish, cod fish, haddock fish, etc, and this
is fresh fish." This morning I was in Lidl, the cut price German chain, and
the frozen fish I checked (and bought) was from Arbroath and Hull. No
dearer than in Iceland. We've a tub of one of those substances that are
good as butter, but not butter, hyped up all over TV with Italian music and
speech. On the tub it says "Not made in Italy", in very small print. So
check your malt and shortbread.
Hugh.
