Much of interest there, and I do agree with your comments about Captain Ennis.

While I was with Kvaerner Govan I was seconded down here to Ferguson's to work on the design of new North Sea support vessels.  Inter-office politics put an end to it and I took myself back up river.

I wrote the machinery and electrical commissioning scripts for ESV IOLAIR while with Kincaid in the 80s.  We were a month (a month aboard) on her first sea trials around the Firth of Clyde.  I escaped the second set in the North Sea. She's a phenomenal vessel.
