frank German-based Chaos Computer Club bypassed the sensors by taking a high-resolution photo of a print on the side of a glass. This photo was scanned and printed before having latex poured onto it. Once dry, the latex print was removed, placed onto of a real finger and pressed onto the iPhone 5S' Touch ID sensor.
