[BITList] David Hicks.

According to wiki,

In October 2012, the United States Court of Appeals ruled that the charge under which Hicks had been convicted was invalid, because the law did not exist at the time of the alleged offence, and it could not be applied retrospectively.[7]The efforts of the US to charge Hicks have been described as "a

significant departure from the Geneva Conventions and the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, quite apart from the US constitution", the

implications being that "anyone in the world, who has suitable radical connections and who is in a war zone fighting against Americans, is guilty of a war crime".[156]

Appears before getting radical connections and inserting himself into a war zone fighting against Americans and NATO allies, the phrase, ‘Shit happens’ never entered his head!

And as I mentioned before – good luck with the appeal, David; in the meantime, enjoy the landscaping.

Frank,

What is "good" about this person being given the time of day is that, next time, you or I could be some deluded US go-getter's arsehole. The words "thin", "edge" and "wedge" come to mind. One cannot be seen to have committed a crime retroactively. What odds getting Henry VII of England committed retroactively from being a psychopath? Ridiculous? If so, what are the limits?

Hugh.
