Its not just cable glands that are needed the cables them selves need to 
be of the filled type or they act as conduits capable of carrying large 
amounts of fluid
I don't like American cables but they do look after this aspect, one of 
the reasons that the British warship sank in the Falklands if I remember 
correctly was because British cables don't cover this aspect
