Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.

I'm not proud to be "white", or even pink (I don't take a tan).  I don't know what colour of skin our African ancestors had before the migration of some to Europe began.  Does anyone?  Anyway, what has race got to do with it? The Neanderthals were a different race from homo erectus, though not so far different that some may have successfully interbred with our lot. We're all Jock Tamson's bairns whether we like it or not.  The Nazis didn't like it, so they embraced a new definition of race (though they didn't invent it), and look what that caused.
