The power available was summed from each gen and compared with the
demand signals from the Drilling equipment the resultant output was then
fed to all the SCR bays in such away that it became a feed forward
signal rather than the usual feedback system. This setup prevented the
overload occurring in the first place rather than trying to correct an
overload after the event which is what all the other systems do some
even trying to generate a phaseback signal from the main Buss voltage
which was in the process of collapsing due to the overload. With the
feed forward setup as I said even with one genny on the board all the
drilling equipment could be run admittedly the pumps, drawworks etc,
could only run as fast as the amount of power available, the power limit
was seamless in operation and was a pleasure to have especially when
they where stuck in the hole and couldn't understand that a stalled DC
motor was seen as a short circuit on the system
