The hand washing advice is for people who are paranoid about germs and other 
wee beasties. Dettol advertise a dispenser that goes one better in not 
requiring a human to touch it before it squirts out a measured dose of a 
liquid lethal to nasty things. I'm thinking of investing in a sort of suit 
that will enclose me in a totally clean atmosphere away from all these 
horrible repulsive things. I've seen them in the TV advert for Domestos, and 
they are not nice at all - they live in toilet bowls, for God's sake, and 
have terrible voices.  Ugh!

PS  After I left the MN we were fitting "Domestos" units in engine rooms, 
not to keep toilets and hands really really clean and fit for anything, 
rather to keep down algae and other marine growths in sea inlets and SW 
systems. The units took in sea water and produced a version of what was 
marketed as Domestos for injection into inlet boxes and piping. - the 
hydrogen by product was discarded, at least when last I had anything to do 
with it.
