Like the others, a fascinating biography, but I've one quibble. In 1837, the Glasgow, Paisley and Greenock Railway had yet to be built, as had almost all of the lines in the UK, so I can't see how it can be described as "a minor railway in Scotland". It opened in 1840/41. The Greenock/Paisley line joined the Ayrshire/Glasgow line at Paisley.
