    the alleged early departure of the captain of the stricken costa cruise ship reminded me of a similar passenger ship incident off south africa some years ago.
    the captain was reportedly one of the first to leave the ship by helicopter and headed to the nearest hilton hotel.
    asked to explain this – he said the hotel was the best place for him to conduct and assist in the rescue operation.
