            In an especially bloody 48-hour period, five people were killed in New Orleans between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning, according to police. Three were killed in Central City,one in Hollygrove and one in St. Claude.

            On Sunday about 8 p.m., a barrage of gunfire erupted in the 2400 block of St. Andrew Street in Central City. Bullets struck three victims. Lawrence Burt, 18, and Vivian Snyder, 56, died from their gunshot wounds, said John Gagliano, the coroner's chief investigator. A 35-year-old man was in critical condition.
