Colin,
I am now totally confused just had a look at google maps I can now see 
why you lived in Lee on Solent while attending HMS Sultan, the place I 
remember as HMS Sultan is now called Gunwharf Quays maybe its just me 
loosing it
Have a very vague recollection of going to a orphans  xmas party at a 
navel base where Sultan is now, Im sure it was a shore training 
establishment HMS Raleigh comes to mind, but obliviously the mists of 
time play tricks as they say
