Colin,

Shorn of all the bull and gloss, the computer is but a tool to me. I don't update my hammer and spanners and pliers every time some ponce dreams up a different colour for them, so why should I do so with my computer? I'll answer my own question, I do so whenever another version offers more speed or storage space, and my son-in-law offers it to me to make room for his new one, or when the one I'm using packs in. I've done that less than half a dozen times in the past 30 years, and half the time it was because of running problems on an old machine.
