tks, hugh for the ted heath list
and for remembering the signature tune – here it is, ‘listen to my music’.............................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF2u20Uxxsw
I forgot to mention the vocalists – south african dennis lotis and lita roza – apparently that was her real name c/o her spanish dad.
the other singer was dickie valentine. I was not aware until I googled him, that while travelling from gig to gig, he was killed outright in a car crash on a single lane bridge at Glangrwyney, near Crickhowell, Wales on 6 May 1971, at the age of 41, together with pianist Sid Boatman and drummer Dave Pearson, aged 42.
the best british big band ever........................

Colin,
The question was asked on a website, and got the answer - Listen to My Music, which fits the tune. I can hear the tune clearly in my head. Ted Heath certainly had a lot of fine musicians - many of them went on to run their own bands. I heard Eric Delaney at Cragburn in Gourock, but Heath didn't play there. The only time I heard Heath live was in the old St Andrews Halls in Glasgow. Of his band, I recall, like you, Don Lusher and Jack Parnell, also Kenny Baker and Johnny Hawksworth. Pianist Stan Tracey got an ovation in Glasgow after playing Skylark when the rest of the band were away having a drink.
I attach the full list.
Hugh.
