      mike- hugh,
With the total cock up over the last few moths it may have dawned upon voter here that the majority of members of congress and senate are only concerned with their re-election and not fixing the many problems the US is suffering from.
they themselves have made their ‘job’ so lucrative and attractive that it has become a job for life, an addiction – it was never meant to be so.
the tea-party has only one simplistic approach to a the very complex job of running a country – they are children playing with fire.
I guess it appeals to the scared and those who are looking for an easy way out of a mess we have been warned about for years. [read middle class whites who, in the most part, stood by and watched it happen while spending all the money they could lay their hands on then selling the farm for more spending money – encouraged by politician, banks and wall street].
whether or not the voters at the next election will understand this is open to debate. should more tea-partyers get in we will be in for the Great Depression II.
down and down we go, round and round we go; oh, what a spin we’re in.......................

A Record 82% of Americans Disapprove of Congress
Adam Clark Estes Aug 04, 2011 1,530 Views Comments (4)
A New York Times/CBS News poll released Thursday evening puts into perspective just how upset Americans are over the handling of the debt crisis by Congress. Michael Cooper and Megan Thee-Brenan report:

A record 82 percent of Americans now disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job — the most since The Times first began asking the question in 1977, and even more than after another political stalemate led to a shutdown of the federal government in 1995. More than four out of five people surveyed said that the recent debt ceiling debate was more about gaining political advantage than about doing what is best for the country. Nearly three-quarters said that the debate had harmed the image of the United States in the world.

Other relevant numbers include a 72 percent disapproval rating for Republicans' handling of negotiations, 66 percent disapproval for Democrats and a 47 percent disapproval rating for the president. White House correspondent for The Huffington Post Sam Stein calls that final figure "the best-of-worst news" for the president and his staff.

Hugh,

Mike

P.S. I wonder if all the argy bargy caused by the Tea Party across the water, before agreeing to the settlement, means that they lose some sleep ! As it started the ball rolling downwards, look at the recent loss on the FYSTE 100.
