Colin,

The GB Cluster refers to a geographical area, Maersk moved from London to Liverpool a couple of years ago. They are hoping perhaps that Peel Holdings will build as post panamax container berth in the river to allow the present big ones to berth on the West coast. The only port they visit in the UK at present is Felixstowe.

Attended a talk this evening about Maersk Line and the new buildings. It was given by a guy whose official title was GB Cluster Process Excellence Manager !

He was a desk wallah from P & O/Nedlloyd. Their ships are on reduced speed of about 16-18 knots. In reply to a question he said that their ships have been given permission to open upto 25 knots when in the pirated waters of the Indian Ocean.

The new ships will be twin screw and so smaller and therefore more space for the Boxes.
