From the present "Private Eye"

When retired Army officer, Arthur Parker, 88, applied for a disabled person's "blue badge" parking permit, Surrey county council (SCC) wasn't in a hurry to send it out. Indeed by the time it arrived at his home in Woking more than four weeks later, Mr.Parker was dead.

Two months on, another letter from SCC arrived at Mr.Parker's home addressed to "the resident". It said the cheque that had been sent with his application had bounced because the drawer was , er, "deceased". Undeterred by Mr.Parker's passing, the council requested a new cheque or the "return of the blue badge we issued to him in April" The customer is dead - long live customer's service.
