hugh

regret, unable to agree with you on this one.

as you know, on later investigation, it turned out that the man fleeing from police by leaping over a subway turnstile was indeed an electrician from brasil!
this was shortly after a terrorist incident when people were killed and it was believed more terror attacks were imminent.
when the police are on high alert, bombings are imminent and the police are on the look out for suspicious characters, ANYONE failing to stop when ordered to is surely taking their life in their own hands with probable dire consequences.
I.e. you get shot in the headed numerous times and end up very dead.
probable cause - probable effect.
I expect the kin of the people blown to pieces in the bus bombing would not consider the apprehending [by killing them] of the bombers BEFORE the incident, an obscene and grossly incompetent execution - neither would I.

when I am flying, I do not want my travel plans [and life] jeopardized by another passenger/s who is totally confused and wants to "get out" in mid-flight. I want them deaded without further PC discussion before I, and everyone else on the plane, is deaded.

I would rather have later investigation of one, than a post mortem on many.

an aircraft in flight is no place for anyone who is confused, unstable or delusional.

Colin,

I wouldn't wish anyone to be shot in the head "without further consideration" a la obscene and grossly incompetent execution of a wholly innocent Brazilian electrician in London. Not even after further consideration, given the evident inability to consider displayed by those with guns supposedly charged with our protection. The man on the US plane must have been totally confused, that much seems obvious, and it would appear the matter was dealt with in flight - why the plane had to be diverted, only God and Homeland Security know. Being confused is not yet a capital offence - many in government are totally confused (look at the world) - it must be gey near the stage where farting on a plane might start WW3. My wife and daughter are flying to Phoenix on April 1st and they are not looking forward to it one bit. Even the fact that it's BA doesn't calm them. BA are the airline whose staff recently demanded a man leave his seat (in flight) and take another, to comply with the objections of the mother of the 12-year old boy sitting next to him. The man was sitting between his pregnant wife and the boy, all being in the seats assigned to them by BA. I don't know the outcome of that farce.

Hugh.
