I just emailed them to ask who was the genius who thought that changing the name from inverclyde fm to inverclyde radio would make it clear that It was not a radio station!

Depends what you mean by "thought". The type of idiot we get nowadays probably thinks FM means what one gets from a box with a tuning dial, while Radio is a trendy modern word that reflects the "get up and go" culture aimed at by Inverclyde whatever.
