very succinctly put, hugh

I find it difficult to imagine, in this day and age, in the land of the
free, home of the brave, how strong dislike, even contempt, for fellow
citizens who are poorer off than the next guy is.
to republicans, concern, help and compassion for the poor, needy and aged is
a sign of libertarian weakness. any government assistance to same is
SOCIALISTIC - ugh!
"I'm alright, jack" is their view of the world.
the odd thing is, these republicans are generally not very well off
themselves [see pix of the tea party mobs], but by associating themselves
with the republican party feel superior by the association!
knowing full well millions have NO health insurance and no money to buy it,
republican leader John Boehner said at yesterday's televised meeting that
the USA has the best health system in the world!
although it is obviously not true, the system might be good enough if one
can easily afford about $4000 per day.
so the cost of a couple of weeks in hospital will be about 36,000 UK pounds.
how about intensive car at about UK pounds 6500 per day?
hell, at these costs I would EXPECT the best health care in the world.
whether one would get it is a matter of conjecture.
