That's as fine a piece of writing as I've ever seen.  Perhaps the most 
recent instance of the apathy of the people is the 30% turnout at the recent 
by election in Glasgow, followed by the most recent example of political 
crap where the winners with a reduced majority (Labour have held the seat 
since the Ark) claimed it as an endorsement of their policies and a 
rejection of all the others.  The apathy of the "lookers on" has allowed the 
lies to be claimed as justified.
