american supremacy is in the field of "ra-ra-ra we are the best", bull shit and fast food..................................................[if thses things are worthy of "supremacy"]
certainly not in the field of scientific accomplishments.

Colin,
Many Europeans/Britons/Scots, eg, me, have never considered there is/was such a thing as American supremacy in scientific accomplishment as regards anything that really matters, and last I heard of it the only scientific consensus on man's role in global warming/non-warming was to shout at each other about it. Which leaves the evolution of species. The very notion of evolution is an affront to many in the USA who have never actually considered the subject. They "know" - a dangerous mind set. But let's not blame the USA for all the ignorance and idiocy in the world. Would you believe Glasgow City Council only the other day lifted the ban on the film, Life of Brian, being shown in city cinemas. Until now, they "knew" it was offensive, little caring about the offence the ban caused. The film is just the same, where did the offence go? And, also recently, a class of students were given a lecture on WW2. One terminally dim student approached the teacher afterwards and asked him why he kept bringing in the dog in the TV insurance adverts - Churchill, a cartoon dog, advertises Churchill Insurance. And at least one pupil in a UK school reckoned Hitler had been Prime Minister of the UK during WW2.
Now I'm off to the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond.
Hugh.
