 From a long story about Indian Army Forces since Independence.


Caste regiments, introduced by Lord Roberts in the 19th century,  
exist, but caste hierarchy is hortizontalised into ethnic regiments.  
As an old story goes, a cavalry officer spotted a 'toilet object' on  
the road outside his lines and sent for the sweeper. After carefully  
examining the object, the sweeper declared, "Sahib, it does not belong  
to my regiment."
