for the rain fall for the last 24 hrs in Townsville.

It has been raining off and on for the last two weeks. When it is 'on'  
its tropical rain.

If you have Google Earth, go to

20°38'45.20"S, 147° 8'26.30"E
this is the Burdekin Dam. It was reported the other day that the  
overflow of the dam was at 1 metre. The dam wall where it is  
overflowing is half a kilometre across. That, is a lot of water going  
out to sea.

It seems to be well known that Australia is a dry country. That is  
true, only because there is no way to stop the water from flowing into  
the sea.

It is curious that Qld has got floods while Victoria now has Bush Fires.
