> Both these two new programmes show you more rare maritime film never made available to the general public before. Episode 43, A Maritime Medley (Part 3) starts with an early 1960s trip down the Thames through a world of shipping, to Margate aboard the beautiful “Royal Sovereign”. Then to a 1950s Med cruise aboard the beautiful “Uganda”, and then, with more wonderful unseen film, the maiden and final sailings of the Queen Mary, Elizabeth and the QE2”. Ending with voyages aboard cargo passenger liners of Grace and Delta Lines, taking you from America’s East and West coasts on voyages all around South America including through the Magellan Strait. Episode 44, “The Great Port of London” Part 3, does what the title suggests and takes you all around the once great Port of London in its heyday, when it really was the biggest and busiest port in the world… There are so many ships its impossible to list them here, but if you knew those docks or just love ships, then here is the treat of a lifetime, showing you hundreds of them from all over the world, ships of every shape and size from tugs to great deep sea liners. It really is quite special and so well made that you will honestly believe someone had waved a magic wand and you were back there for real.
>
> We also have our special offer whereby for every two DVDs you buy, you can have another one of your choice absolutely free, which is a huge saving and just has to be the perfect gift for anyone with an interest in shipping, so turn back the hands of time and enjoy these rare treats and remember, we are the only people in the whole world that produce these special maritime DVDs.

> We have managed to produce three DVDs this year in our series “The Great Liners”, which is so enjoyed by people all over the world and something that we are extremely proud of. So far we have produced a staggering 44 of these unique programmes, and to give you an idea of the work involved, if we were employed by a major broadcaster such as the BBC, then we would have 30 people or more working on every episode, e.g. searching for the film, restoring, colourisation, enhancing, transferring from film to digital formats, research, scene assembly, writing music, recording music, sound research and effects, editing, scene script, final script, Copyright clearances, Art Director, Sound Director, Assistant Director, Director, Producer and so on… Whereas we at Snowbow have just two people to do everything. But just as well really, for if we couldn’t do all this work ourselves then we would never be able to afford the costs, and that would be a shame, for its doubtful if anyone else in the world would take on such costly work, but we do because we are acutely aware of just how much happiness these programmes bring to so many people.
>
> The really good news is that we now have even more rare film of shipping during the 20th Century, and with a little bit of good luck, we (Ulla and Des) plan to carry on with this work until we have produced 50 programmes, which by then should mean we have managed to bring you rare film of just about every shipping company of the 20th Century, and just about all the ships they operated, as well as magnificent footage of shipyards, launches, ports crammed full of ships, canals such as Panama and Suez, wonderful voyages to just about every corner of the world… voyages that show us the real wonders of life at sea , taking us all over the ships from bridge to engine rooms, into the wonderful interiors to join passengers and crew aboard of some of the most famous ocean liners ever to have sailed the oceans of the world, we even manage to take you to sea aboard conventional cargo ships, so you can experience life on them such as swinging from the mast whilst sat on a tiny piece of wood, painting away beneath a tropical sun or an Arctic freeze, all part of the excitement and adventure seafarers enjoyed every day of their seagoing lives. Yes, it’s not a case of just watching faded clips of ships passing by, no, these programmes will help you to really experience just what life at sea was like back then, and to understand why for almost everyone, going away to sea were the best years of their lives.
>
> Some of the episodes also feature our fighting ships as well, especially the ones that tell the story of the Arctic Convoys, referred to by Winston Churchill as “The Worst journey in the World”, and when you watch these programmes you will know exactly what he meant… Those young men were so very brave.
>
> Oh, and for all you strange people who absolutely love stormy seas, well, we also include really rare film of some of the worst and stormiest seas ever captured on film ever… Terrifyingly great!
>
>
> Maritime Memories has enjoyed over 40 wonderful cruises over the years, cruises on which we have taken thousands of people all over the world, places most people can only but dream about visiting, and do so in a way that allows us to turn back the hands of time to the Golden Age of Ocean Travel, when life was so much less unhurried, and when we had time to enjoy each others company and be able to gently sail in and out of beautiful ports without even the smallest queue to negotiate. In short, they are cruises we arrange for you to enjoy, cruises that take us back in time to an age long before iPhones and all the other wonders of this somewhat not so nice world of today.
>
> We are planning more for 2019 and hope to be able to give you further information as soon as its available, so if you want a wonderful, wonderful holiday that only Maritime Memories can provide, then do come with us, especially if you haven’t been with us before, because remember, we do this because we want you to enjoy being at sea, we want to bring wonderful memories of yesteryear back for you, and in today’s ever greying world, we really want to spread a little happiness and, we do all this without any extra charge, and our rewarded by the happiness we five you, that in turn, makes us happy as well.
>
> New Album: Because so many of us are totally tired of all the doom and gloom that seems to have, through no choice or fault of our own, taken over so much of our lives these days, to the extent where we are so fed-up with it all that many of us now switch off TV news because of all the doom and gloom they so joyfully try to disseminate onto all of us. So, I (Des) prompted by so many people requesting me to do so, decided that I would put on record something that I hope will destroy all that tired doom and gloom by once again turning back the hands of time, and taking us back to the days not so very long ago, when the world really was a much nicer place, when comedy was so funny it actually made you laugh, and entertainment including, jokes, impersonations, songs and so much more, just filled us all with so much fun, laughter and happiness, rather than being attacked by the Politically correct brigades, Snowflakes and all the other anti-everything people.
>
> The recording is based on shows I done aboard cruise ships and in nightclubs and concerts all over the world, but especially the shows we have arranged for you when on a Maritime Memory cruise, shows that were all completely adlibbed and full of freedom of expression and speech, without care for Political Correctness and all the other nonsense we have to tolerate today… Shows that were full of fun and laughter and amongst the songs I’ve recorded, that include rock ‘n’ roll, ballads and country rock, are many comedy songs including the song so many of you have requested over the years and that’s “Always Look On The Bright side of Life” with lyrics that as well as make you laugh, also have a little dig and make fun of the often miserable state of the world of today.
>
> Of course, I’m not given the luxury of being able to record in one of the country’s top studios such as Abbey Road, but nevertheless, real comedy doesn’t need that to make you laugh, no, real comedy is all about just being funny, so do keep an eye open for it and I promise you, it will be something you will really enjoy, and as its title, (“A Little Ray of Happiness”) suggests, it is exactly that, and if you don’t laugh or enjoy it, well then..?
>
> The album should be ready early in the New Year (I only manage to record for a couple of hours a week, hence the time it takes) but it is all adlibbed and so, if you have enjoyed my performances on-board ship then this is a must for you and if you haven’t witnessed me perform, well I’ll do a deal with you… If you witness me then I in turn will witness you… Could be interesting could this!
>
> New Book: After many requests I have also managed to get stuck into writing the 2nd Vol of my life story, and this one is to be titled: “Jumping For Balloons Vol 2 Carry On Sailor”. As the title suggests it will be funny, telling of all the really crazy things that happened to me when I was at sea, stories that for landlubbers will seem unbelievable, but to all of you who went to sea, well, you know first-hand just how bizarre and funny happened all the time when at sea, stories that were so true, and yet I know from personal experience how difficult it is for non-seafarers to believe them, but I promise you, they are all so very true. This book will make you laugh out loud, but at the same time it also looks at the more serious sides of serving at sea e.g. the dangers we faced almost on a daily basis, and how hard the long hours and work could be at times, and yet so enjoyably romantic, adventurous and exciting. This book will be ready within the next three months, so hopefully that’s something else that will help to brighten everyone’s lives.
>
> And now to end with, here are some of our unique cartoons with a special Christmassy feel. They’re from a cartoon that I created with a wonderful Swedish friend, Lars Mortimer, and when we were doing them we would just fall about laughing… We really enjoyed doing these so much and thankfully they were published all over the world. In total we did over 1,500 strips and they are all about wild animals living around a waterhole in the middle of a bare and barren desert, hence its title “The Waterhole In the UK they were published daily in The Sun newspaper, so please enjoy this seasonal sample.

> The next strip is a new one called “Washed UP” and features two poor guys who somehow managed to end up shipwrecked on the world’s smallest desert island. We don’t know who they are, where they come from or anything about their personal lives, or even how they can possibly manage to survive on what must be the world’s most uninhabitable location. All we do know is that they are stranded hundreds of miles from the nearest land and without hardly any chance of ever being rescued. Of the two, only Fred ever talks, while his companion Pete, just sits in absolute silence and despair, day after day, after day, whilst Fred just carries on almost as if everything is just absolutely normal… I sailed with so many people just like that, which is perhaps where the inspiration for these cartoons came from, but hopefully they will bring you smiles and may even make you laugh.

> Everything we do is done to try to bring as much happiness as we can to this world, which is why we make our Maritime DVDs… We now have, after 23 years of hard work, managed to create the biggest Maritime Film and Sound Archive in the world, all of which will help us to ensure that our great maritime past will never be forgotten.
>
> We really wish you so much happiness and hope that our Award Winning maritime DVDs will help to bring you a Very Happy Christmas and a special New Year… Oh, and if anyone should judge that the cartoons above don’t fit in with today’s Politically Correct Madness, then tough!
