From a correspondent…
An eminent professor of medicine made the following statement reproduced on Facebook.
He said, If a surgeon performed an operation on a patient without fully informed consent, knowingly use inaccurate data about the likely outcome, and then had no idea how to proceed after the initial incision, they would be struck off the medical register and not allowed to practise further. Isn’t it time politicians too were held properly accountable for their individual actions ?
An interesting analogy. a profound but simple statement.
The governments National Careers Service web site;-
https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/job-profiles/surgeon <https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/job-profiles/surgeon>
makes interesting reading.
Surgeons specialise in caring for patients who may need an operation.
Salary: £26,350 to £102,500 average per year
Hours: 48 per week
1) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To become a surgeon you'll need to complete:
a 5-year degree in medicine, recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
a 2-year foundation programme of general training
2 years core surgical training in a hospital
up to 6 years of speciality training.
2) SKILLS REQUIRED
excellent communication skills and the ability to explain choices to patients
the ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions
excellent hand-eye co-ordination and practical skills
the ability to put people at their ease and inspire trust and confidence
leadership and management skills
the ability to always work to high professional standards.
3) WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll specialise in one of 10 surgical areas, like:
ear, nose and throat (ENT)
orthopaedic surgery
paediatric surgery
plastic surgery
trauma
You’ll spend time:
meeting the patient before the operation to decide on the best course of action
explaining the procedures and risk
taking tests and arrange X-rays
carrying out operations with a team of people
carrying out ward rounds
writing to GPs about your patients’ conditions and treatments.
4) SALARY
Starter: £26,350 to £45,750 (doctors in training)
Experienced: £37,500 to £70,000 (specialty doctors)

Consultants working in the private sector may be paid more.
These figures are a guide.

It is not difficult to change s”surgeon” to “MP”.
1) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
In order to encourage only serious candidates to stand, a £500 deposit is required when submitting the nomination papers - returned if the candidate receives over five per cent of the total votes cast. There are some other basic rules that are applied but not too much as for surgeons.
Of course there are MPs or Prospective MPs that have qualifications in certain professions, such as law, K. Clarke QC and finance. George Osborne, bachelor's degree in Modern History????????
2) SKILLS REQUIRED. Should follow that of surgeons! Opinions vary. Out of the two lists of 6 how does KC do?
3) WHAT YOU'LL DO. With around 25 ministerial departments alone plenty to choose from. {I don’t think square pegs and round holes is part of the decision making}.
You’ll spend time: [well we know KC likes to spend time in the Commons café drinking tea and complaining about no free biscuits}. Do they fill the requirements as for surgeons?
4) SALARY basic MP salary. The basic annual salary for an MP from 1 April 2018 is £77,379. MPs also receive expenses to cover the costs of running an office, employing staff, having somewhere to live in London or their constituency, and travelling between Parliament and their constituency. Plus expenses of course. The PM gets £142,500. Chairs also get more etc. it’s a never ending hand out of our taxes.
Spend a few hours browsing on “MPs Salary”. PMS ditto and other government sites on expenditure on the “mob”. Also about their pensions! I guarantee you will likely vomit!
Here is one site you really really must visit. And I mean must!

I would if I could but they appear to asking for money.
On the subject matter - Australia is on par…or better.
