From a correspondent…

Can anyone please tell me how many days it took for a passenger ship to voyage from Bombay to Liverpool in 1950?

From another correspondent...

1956, at the start of the Suez Canal problem, I always remember my parents
saying that it took 3 weeks door to door, end of November into December,
from Calcutta (2 nights on train to Bombay, stay one night at the Taj) and
home around the Cape of Good Hope avoiding Suez.

It was in the national UK newspapers, we were the first ship to dock at
Liverpool (right by the 'Liver Bird') having had to avoid Suez. RMS
Circassia, Anchor Line.

Perhaps we had fewer stops, and travelled quicker, because it was
unexpected and very much last-minute, that the ship would have to take the
longer route, with future schedules to try to keep up with, etc. We
only knew about the revised route when we arrived at Bombay.

Then of course we had the Boat Train from Liverpool down to London.
