John,

I've never played curling in Montreal.  Wainwright and Edmonton only. But I recognise the allusions. Front of house blocked by crappy stones delivered by the opposition and your useless second.  No way in unless by a John MacLaren special. John had little finesse or sense of direction, but could sometimes deliver a stone to clear a way through anything - sometimes. Janet and I haven't played the game for some years.  We miss it.
