[BITList] Clydesdales downunder

John,

My childhood was full of Clydesdales. The shipyards along the shore were serviced by Pollock's carts, all drawn by Clydesdales. Flat carts with steel plates and bar, and big deep wagons with coal, coke, rubbish and blaes (the little round bits of plate punched out for rivet holes). As a 15-year old gate boy I used to weigh them all in and out of Lithgow's East Yard. They stopped on the weight bridge, in and out, full and empty, and I recorded the laboriously calculated weights of the contents in and out in tons, cwts, stones and pounds in my best script.

Hugh.
