A certain American admiral, arriving in Dubai with his fleet, flew the code signal ’Second to none’

He was followed by a diminutive British mine sweeper, un-noticed as beneath his contempt,  had also hoisted a flag signal.

This is all true, ‘onest.

The R.N. flag signal read: ''None’

When a very red faced Yankie admiral heard about this, he fired a huge broadside which thundered around the Persian Gulf, much to the delight of the locals, and you ask about the 2nd. Lieutenant who was the Captain of our minesweeper?

He was sent home, p.d.q., and on arrival at the Admiralty, was told not to be so naughty, and  received an immediate promotion  :-{)}
