Mike,

PLUMBERS - UPSKILL TO BECOME A GAS ENGINEER IN 9 WEEKENDS
NO PRIOR KNOWEDGE OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

I recall when I'd bought a new gas cooker, and had cut the requisite lengths of copper pipe, and got Ermeto couplings, etc, from my cupboards, all prior to installing the thing. I was advised by someone claiming to be in the know that I must get what he called a qualified gas engineer to install it. To which I said, "You mean the kind who installed my new gas water heater and left the plastic lining inside it? Not to mention buggering up the plastic cover that hides the bottom connections?" I installed it, being a qualified engineer.

What has the world come to?

Hugh.
