As you will know, such "owners'" models were made by or for the shipyard for a newbuilding, not as decorations or museum pieces, but as a visual aid, updated to reflect changes the owners though a better idea.  Sometimes the yard retained them. Other types of model were made to show details of specific areas. In the basement of Greenock Municipal Buildings there's a fine large scale cutaway model of the aft end of a cargo vessel built by a yard in the NE of England - I've details somewhere.
