Ach, zer seacocks mit der gespronnicle levers.  Many a fine ship has been gesunkend by them. Engineering Knowledge for the second's ticket Part B didn't cover them unfortunately.

One vessel was accidentally sunk in Greenock without the "seacocks" being fitted at all. MV Clan MacIvor was fitting out in the James Watt Dock, when an overnight storm tilted her away from the dockside, causing the hawsers to part.  The shipside valves hadn't yet been fitted, and the ER flooded, taking her nearly right over.
