Hugh,

Another area were I have heard the Mars Bar in Batter being sold ,was around the Tyne, A few years ago I went to a Pub, on the coast, N.of Newcastle, where the fried fish was sold by weight, the heaviest was referred to as a Whale. If you could eat it completely the Pub would let you have it for nothing !

Stonehaven has a lot to answer for in that regard, it would seem, but last time we were there we had fish and chips with tea and bread and butter (a fish tea, to the uninitiated) and the fish with no hint of Mars Bar, was enormous. Had we not got a "small" one, God knows how we'd've finished it. The only one to rival it was one we got in York - we had to take a long walk to let it settle.
