From another Forum…

Today, 30th December (2015) is the 150th birth anniversary
of Joseph Rudyard Kipling, THE Master story teller and greatest
poet of his era. Born in Bombay in 1865, he was hailed during
his lifetime as a legend, and also considered the most vociferous
apologist for the British Raj in India (and elsewhere) but something
of a burden in his declining years, because of his apparent jingoism.

I love the Old Boy, warts and all, make no mistake about it.

A friend has raised an interesting question on Facebook today. He asks:
''Who, I wonder, is considered the greatest amongst the Anglo-Indian
writers ? Kipling, Orwell, Thackeray, Any Other?'' He forgot the word
NOW. During his life time, of course there was NO match to old Kip.
Can we add Ruskin Bond to this list? Who else? Any thoughts, folks?

Also, do read this:
