So commonsense prevailed - pity it had to take so long.

I wish they would stop talking about British law.  There's no such thing -  there's Scots law and there's English law, based on quite distinct codes.  A chap I know got a £60 so-called parking penalty slapped on him by Tesco here. He took it to the Police.  "Put it in the bin," they advised.
