Mike,

The large drydock (Inchgreen Drydock) is still there, along with its cranes
and offices and occasional signs of activity. Though it was allegedly made
to suit the QE2, she only fitted in after they removed a bit of the dock
head to allow her bow overhang in. From a website:

"In 2013, the dock was readied for use for the first time in 10 years,
having last been used for construction of a giant floating dock for HMNB
Clyde, the naval base at Faslane. The floating dock had been completed and
floated out of the dock in 2009. Prior to that job, the last time the dock
was used for a ship repair was in the summer of 2005, for the Royal
Fleet Auxiliary vessel Sir Tristram.

In February 2013, the 26,000 tonne ferry Finnmarrow (chartered to Stenaline)
was towed to the Clyde for repairs following a berthing incident in Wales.
Damage to the ferry was reported to have occurred as the ferry was arriving
at Holyhead from Dublin Port."

At least one BI vessel was in the dock for a time, and there is a photo, but
I can't lay a hand on it at the moment.

Hugh.

PS: Inchgreen used to be a small island in the river not far from the dock,
used by the herring fishers. Long since removed.
