I suppose some would tend to behave as such, whilst some would make an effort to change the perception.
Unusual for ‘superior officers’, indicating a number of them, had the same comment.

When you're told, repeatedly, by your 'Superior Officers' that your'e the scum of the earth, then you tend to behave as such!
