As you know, from the days of the cave men to modern times, those of advancing years have complained and criticized the young ‘uns and claimed times and things were much better when they were young.
It’s part of the richness of advancing years that this inevitably occurs and only we can see things and folk were better when we were young. 
I recall the chaotic scenes when Bill Hayley and the Comets hit the cinema and kids started ‘rocking around the clock’, our parents thought they were noisy, talentless crazies! The Beatles were also declared to be mop-haired Liverpudlian wasters by older folk but they lasted an awful long time and Paul is still going strong and is highly regarded in the entertainment business, he also heads the list of the world’s richest singers at $800 million.
After being away for nearly 3 years on Eastern Service I returned to the sight of young women in mini-skirts—wow, but I got over it and didn’t complain. I can’t imagine what 80 year olds at that time thought!
I have no interest in the talentless entertainers we see on TV consequently I don’t watch them – whether they be male or female.
You are not going wrong anywhere. Times change and peoples tastes change, possibly our ability to bend with that wind diminishes with time!
But I keep a stiff upper lip...........................standards must be maintained.

Now, being firmly ensconced in my 80's, I have been,for very many years,bemused by the antics of the younger elements of our population. For example:
Why do the so called musical "stars", that we constantly see on TV, have to cavort around the stage,whilst "playing" their instruments accompanied by ridiculous gymnastic performances which are there to divert attention from the real lack of musicianship of the so called stars. In my days, and yours too,be it in classical music,opera,Country or Jazz,the musicians of their genre ,were musicians who played and performed,with their groups(orchestra,choirs etc) in a virtually static position, the gyrations and fancy lighting used today only makes me think that this side show is to camouflage their real lack of musical knowledge and instead of giving a musical performance,instead,gives you a psychedelic  performance,which,no doubt, is fuelled by some form of  outside imbibed influence. 
Why do women nowadays have to mascara their eyes and use false eyelashes to such a degree.? Can you imagine the scenario at night and in the morning ?why can't you look as you really are? What is your problem? Discreet makeup is certainly ok,but really!!
