Are you saying that the film of people having their heads cut open was
staged by the right wingers. Or did it happen. The question was "would you
like this to happen in your town". I say No. Personally I think that the all
of the European countries should say to any one who wants to live here will
live as we do and follow our laws and customs.

And I am not a brainwashed minion. Or a Rigjhtwinger as people who have
known me most of my life would tell you.

No doubt. but your email was not about the pleasantries of a good wedding or
christening that you are partial to; it was depicting a rather sanguine
muslim ceremony in Vienna, the sort of incendiary stuff rightwing think
tanks send out to gin up fear, fear, fear, fear in their brainwashed
minions. 

It's all about: "see what these eeeevul muzlins are going to MAKE YOU do" -
perhaps in your innocence you missed that point.

The Day of Ashura, which is the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic
calendar, is commemorated by Shiite Muslims as a day of mourning for the
martyrdom of Hussein ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad
at the Battle of Karbala (80 KM south of Baghdad) on 10 Muharram in the
Hijra (Islamic) year 61 (October 10, 680 AD.)

The ceremony involves cutting men, including boys, on the top of the scalp
and allowing the blood to flow freely. It's not a nice looking ceremony, to
be sure, and many Muslims disagree with this practice, because they clearly
see that it sends out a negative image of their religion.

But one should also remember that scalp wounds tend to be very bloody, and
probably most cuts aren't that deep.

It's not a ceremony that looks great to me, but I strive to be
non-judgemental about stuff I don't really understand. Plus the video simply
shows the ceremony being practiced, but it's put in context (by some
European facists no doubt) of: ohmigawd look what's going to happen your
neighborhood.

Rightwing think tanks send out this kind of incendiary stuff to gin up fear,
fear, fear, fear in their brainwashed minions.
