You're bang on about the Cs - they were ahead of their times, insofar as the other gennie was for sewage, as per what is now the best Carnival practice, though when it was on standby it would do OK for other things, eg, cargo stowage and auxy steam to the steering gear. As far as I recollect, the SW circ pump was both horizontal and centrifugal, but it was indeed driven by steam, as also was the big machine built by the Second before he died (that whole &%£$*&£% issue was driven by steam).

A trip down nostalgia lane is good for the soul.
