Or the interview with The General, the details of which have stuck with me for 60-odd years? The interview itself didn't take place in the dream, but I was there for it, and I still clearly recall the walk up the long corridor and the ornately panelled room with the big desk.

No frames, no entablature, no cylinders, just a bedplate and a crankshaft. I had enough presence of mind to check the rpm - 120. This I did by counting - having spend a lot of time when young sleeping with my head next to great aunt Maggie's grandfather clock, which ticked once a second, I can count seconds pretty accurately. But the ludicrousness of it disturbed me, and I woke up. No sooner awake than a long submerged memory appeared. In one of Kincaid's erecting shops (I-shop) watching others bedding in a diesel crankshaft. Blue having been applied to the journals, Jimmy Cram the slinger looped a rope round the crane hook then a couple of times round a suitably positioned crank pin. Someone held the free end, up with the hook, let go the rope when the crankshaft revolved. Lift out the crankshaft and see what's what. Did I actually witness that, or did I make it up?

As they say Hugh, it's all in the mind!
