Were lawyers to be given free rein in the matter of ancient words, we might be arguing about such as "abulziements", umquhile" and "compeared", to name only a few from my notes on family history.  But all of these are consigned to dusty files, as should be "allision".

One authority on language, the late Para Handy, said of a fellow seaman that he had collided with the whole of Bute, and him not even trying.

I rest my case.
