Mike,

I always thought that bastard an odd ball.  A good many years ago I had a 
brief correspondence with him on my wife's family history.  The Lauder in
his name comes from Sir Harry of that ilk, who married into a line distantly 
related to me, and at one time thought (by me) to be related to my wife.  I 
can't lay a hand on the correspondence, but I recollect being pissed off 
with Gregory at times.  Seems my instincts were spot on.
