This is a little story illustrating how well even local US politics pays it's participants .

As background to the story, new orleans parish is quite small - the majority of the area is in jefferson parish which more or less surrounds orleans parish. Kenner [in which the new orleans airport is located] is one of the small communities within Jefferson Parish near new orleans. the whole area is known as the GNO - greater new orleans.

aaron broussard is the former Jefferson parish president who was recently found guilty of much stuff whilst in office. even though he has been sentenced to 46 moths in prison, he still gets a monthly pension from the very folks he ripped off!

According to a newspaper report, Broussard, who is living with his mother, is drawing $6,453 in monthly pension payments in connection with his decades of public service. He was Kenner mayor before his election to the Jefferson Parish Council. He was parish president from 2004 to 2010.
