Mike,

Like me, you sometimes read the Independent. Did you see the letter in today's? A courageous man in Herne Bay decided to give up his unemployment benefit and try to live on a cabinet minister's salary.  It was pretty much of a disaster, inasmuch as everything was on expenses, so he never got to spend the salary on anything.
