The FBI estimates that there are over 200 million privately-owned firearms in the US. If you add those owned by the military, law enforcement agencies and museums, there is probably about 1 gun per person in the country.

If you want to get a rough idea of how many guns there are out there just look at how many people you see out there then multiply by a factor of estimated ownership. The last best guess was about 350,000,000 Total. That would be 1 weapon for every man woman and child. The average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns, and rifles of all makes and models. It is often estimated that about 1 in 4 people own any firearms and on average firearms owners own 4 guns each.

as I mentioned the other day, Americans seem to live in constant fear of being attacked, invaded or being ‘taken over’ by the government, hence the need for all the guns-------I just don’t get it.

I think many in the NRA would just love to have a Syria type situation where they could exercise their right to bear arms and from this day to the ending of the world, be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in America now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us against socialists, commies and the guvmint’ upon Saint Crispin's day. they could form battalions and play bang, bang with all 200,000,000 guns to their hearts content.


but seriously, accidental shooting of  close relatives in the name of protecting ones self and property is not all that uncommon – especially round all saints e’en.

few folks are against guns for hunting but as you see guns for hunting are not enough. 

I think there is a limit to the caliber of gun the general public can buy but I cant readily find info about this limit.
